21st June is the summer solstice and this year saw the hottest summer solstice on record, as temperatures reached 34.5oC at Heathrow. It was also the hottest day of the year so far and the hottest June day since 1976, when 35.6oC was reached in Southampton. This month has also seen 5 days in a row with temperatures reaching 30oC or above for the first time during the month of June since June 1995.

Early June was well below average. I've got Met Office records going back to early 1900's and early in the month we were up to 8 degrees below the average max temperatures. We've had a few hot days in what has been a relatively cool month. As I type this - today will be bang on the 100 year average.

Just enjoy the nice weather!
